Twenty years have passed. On 19 October 2017, the Maletić family, together with their team of nurses, business associates and journalists, celebrated two decades of Poliklinika Maletić in Daruvar and the opening of the new Poliklinika Maletić in Zagreb, at Medvešćak 23/1. Alongside the clinic’s doctors, Sanja Vejnović, our famous and beautiful actress, and Dr Ivan Fistonić shared their impressions and experiences with them; Dr Fistonić also recalled his student days with Dr Duško Maletić. NOVA TV filmed a feature for the occasion, and a series of photographs was taken that best illustrate how the celebration unfolded.

They were among the pioneers of aesthetic surgery: one of the first aesthetic surgery polyclinics in Croatia was founded 20 years ago in Daruvar by spouses Dr Duško Maletić, a specialist in surgery and urology, and Dr Ines Maletić, a specialist in anaesthesiology and resuscitation: Poliklinika dr. Maletić. Later, their daughter, Dr Ana Maletić, a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, joined them. In 2016, they opened another aesthetic surgery polyclinic and laser centre in Zagreb, equally well equipped according to the highest global standards of aesthetic surgery.
As medical science and technology advanced, Poliklinika Maletić renewed its equipment and introduced revolutionary surgical methods and new treatments. In 2002, it was in this very clinic that Dr Duško Maletić became the first in Croatia to transplant fat to the face and body, and the first in Croatia to apply botulinum toxin to the underarm region as a treatment against sweating. Since 2003, the clinic has used special vibrating probes for vibroliposuction, again as the first in Croatia. In 2004 it was also the first to present APTOS thread implantation in the face to the Croatian public, and in 2008 the doctors of Poliklinika Maletić were again the first in Croatia to treat excessive underarm sweating with laser, perform laser surgery on leg veins and carry out laser lipolysis. Poliklinika Maletić is also a leader in facial rejuvenation: in 2015, they were the first in Croatia to perform 4D laser facial rejuvenation, completely painless, without anaesthesia and with exceptional results for facial skin.
Of course, in this field only those who keep pace with time and progress are successful; that is why the doctors of Poliklinika Maletić regularly attend aesthetic surgery congresses around the world, where they also give lectures and present to colleagues the results achieved in their clinic. Their experience and results after laser aesthetic procedures did not go unnoticed, so in 2008 Poliklinika Maletić received the status of a LAHA (Laser and Health Academy) education centre, an academy for training doctors in the field of laser aesthetic procedures. Surgeons from all over the world therefore visit Poliklinika Maletić, spending several days in Daruvar or Zagreb and observing how laser lipolysis, laser removal of excessive underarm sweating, laser surgery on leg veins, laser facial rejuvenation and other aesthetic surgery procedures are performed.
The medical team continually researches, records its results and develops new technologies. Dr Duško Maletić developed a laser method for tightening the lower face, the jawline, as well as the Maletić laser rejuvenation method. Their work has become well known; patients come from Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Italy, as well as many well-known Croatian names. Among them is Sanja Vejnović, whom many know from film and television. This wonderful, always smiling woman met the Maletić family in 2014 and has since entrusted the care of her skin to their skilled hands. Let us not forget that Ms Vejnović is among the most beautiful women in the world over 40… so say the Americans, and we agree. Congratulations, dear Sanja!
The tradition of pioneers in aesthetic surgery is continued by young Dr Ana Maletić, who leads the hair transplantation centre at Poliklinika Maletić and is the only doctor from Croatia admitted to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).
The doctors of Poliklinika Maletić want to share their experience with other specialists and with their patients. They have presented their knowledge and experience in six books on aesthetic surgery. Three books cover all aesthetic procedures, one is dedicated to aesthetic surgery for men, another discusses hair transplantation, and one is an atlas of aesthetic procedures. The newest book is titled Aesthetic Operations and Treatments and has also been translated into English.
