Reconstruction of the hymen after defloration has not been common in our region over the past twenty or so years; rather, these are sporadic cases. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, during which the edges of the deflorated hymen are freshened and sutured with resorbable thread, leaving a small opening for the woman’s physiological needs.
