Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure in which, along with fat tissue, the associated excess skin in the lower part of the abdominal wall is also removed. During the procedure, the anterior abdominal wall can also be reinforced, i.e. plicated.
The procedure can be combined with liposuction (according to Dr. Avelar).
A smaller abdominoplasty with liposuction can be performed according to Avelar under local tumescent anaesthesia. For larger operations, general anaesthesia is required, as well as complete examinations.
The operation lasts 1-2 hours. After recovering from the anaesthesia, the patient can go home with a recommendation to wear a compression garment for the next few weeks. The postoperative scar is visible in the bikini area.
