Filling in the eyebrows has been a global trend for several years now, simply because fuller, natural eyebrows of a beautiful shape are back in fashion. The only permanent and successful method is hair transplantation.
Eyebrow transplantation is a procedure that is becoming increasingly popular in aesthetic surgery. When the eyebrows are of an inadequate thickness and fullness, they negatively affect the appearance of the face; the reason for this may be a hereditary, i.e. genetically determined, factor, or the eyebrows may be too thin due to long-term plucking, and there are also traumas and, as a consequence, scars. Before an eyebrow transplant, we hold a consultation with the patient, an indispensable and detailed examination, an assessment of the health condition, and we map out the desired appearance of the eyebrows.
At Poliklinika Maletić, we perform eyebrow transplantation using the FUE method, which means that from the donor region – usually the occipital part of the scalp, but other parts of the body are also possible – we take follicular units with special micro instruments, one by one, and implant them into the eyebrow area. With this method of transplantation we achieve a natural appearance of the eyebrows and, undoubtedly, a permanent solution. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and is completely painless.
A few days after the procedure, the patient has small scabs on the treated regions, and the hairs from the transplanted follicular units usually fall out after about ten days. New hairs begin to grow 15 to 16 weeks after the procedure. The transplanted hairs grow in length as they did at the site from which they were taken, so trimming is necessary, but often, after some time, they adapt to their new location and trimming is no longer needed.
