Nanofat

What is nano-fat?

Nano-fat is a technique in aesthetic and reconstructive medicine in which adipose tissue (taken from the patient by liposuction) is mechanically processed and filtered so that a very fine fat emulsion is obtained. This emulsion contains stem cells, growth factors and stromal cells, but almost without intact fat cells – which is why it differs from “classic” lipofilling.

What is it used for?

Nano-fat is not used for volumetric augmentation (because there are not many living adipocytes), but for improving skin quality and regeneration.
Most common uses:

  • Skin rejuvenation: face, neck, décolletage, hands
  • Treating dark under-eye circles
  • Reducing fine wrinkles and scars (acne, burns, stretch marks)
  • Improving skin texture – elasticity, glow, tone
  • Adjuvant therapy in reconstructive procedures

How is it performed?

  1. Harvesting adipose tissue (most often from the abdomen or thighs) using a thin cannula and gentle liposuction.
  2. Processing the fat – the adipose tissue is rinsed, then mechanically “passed” several times through special filters or syringes in order to break down the fat cells. The result is an emulsion rich in stromal vascular fractions and stem cells.
  3. Application – nano-fat is injected with very thin needles or cannulas into the dermis and subcutis, similar to dermal fillers, but with the aim of regeneration rather than filling.

 Advantages

  • Uses  one’s own tissue → no risk of allergies or rejection
  • Contains biologically active cells → stimulates regeneration and collagen production
  • A longer-lasting effect than many fillers (but it is often combined with classic lipofilling for volume)

What should you pay attention to?

  • The procedure must be performed by an experienced physician who deals with liposuction and the processing of adipose tissue for transplantation to a new location from the donor region
  • There may be swelling, bruising or discomfort after the procedure
  • The result is not immediate → regeneration develops over several months
  • If performed incorrectly, skin irregularities or infections can occur
  • In combination with  the transplantation of larger fat particles, a volumetric lift is also achieved, which together with the nano particles gives a significant improvement in the volumisation of the region, as well as the skin quality over a longer period
