Fat Tissue Transplantation

Body Volume Enhancement with Your Own Fat Tissue

After the liposuction technique was developed, it opened up new ideas and possibilities that it indirectly enables. Increasing the volume of specific areas of the body and filling defects with the patient?s own fat tissue has proved to be an excellent option. To help as many fat cells as possible survive after they are removed from the body by liposuction, the fat tissue is separated from the local anesthetic and blood by centrifugation or simply by settling and decanting. With the latter method, the fat cells are less traumatized and a larger number of cells survive. After the fat tissue is separated from the local anesthetic and blood, it is placed into syringes and injected into the areas where volume enhancement is desired. It is not advisable to inject fat tissue into the recipient area with needles, but with blunt-tipped cannulas with side openings. The use of specialized instruments reduces the possibility of local damage and complications caused by injury to the local vascular system. When injecting prepared fat tissue, a slightly larger correction of the desired volume is always performed because a substantial portion of the cells will be resorbed; in other words, all material that does not manage to connect to circulation in the new position will be broken down. For the result to be long-lasting, the procedure should be repeated after three to four months. This approach achieves excellent results.

The most common donor areas from which cells are taken are the abdominal wall and the thighs, either the inner or outer side.

On the face, fat is usually transplanted into the malar region, meaning the cheeks. Deep wrinkles can also be filled, for example nasolabial folds. Enhancement of the malar region, by filling the cheeks to create baby cheeks, also results in a volumetric lift, so increasing the volume of the malar region also lifts the tissue above the nasolabial fold and jawline. Lip enhancement with fat tissue is also very common.

Rejuvenation of the backs of the hands with fat tissue transplantation, combined with radiofrequency and laser treatments, gives an excellent result. Fat tissue transplantation can be used to enlarge the breasts, buttocks, lower legs and other areas. In genital surgery, fat tissue transplantation is also used for enlargement of the labia majora, as well as for thickening of the male genital organ.

A high-quality donor region is very important for fat tissue transplantation. Fat cells that are moved to a new location and successfully connect to the local microcirculation remain in that region permanently.

This is certainly the most natural way to increase the volume of individual areas of the body.

Fat tissue transplantation can be performed under local tumescent anesthesia or general anesthesia, depending on the size of the area being treated.

If the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, the client can go home after the procedure. If it is performed under general anesthesia, the client goes home after recovering from anesthesia.
