Endovenous Varicose Vein Laser Treatment (EVLT)
Endovenous Varicose Vein Laser Treatment (EVLT) in Croatia was performed for the first time at our Polyclinic.
In addition to this procedure, we perform the other types of Varicose Vein Treatments, such as: the classic compression therapy, Sclerotherapy, Dilated Capillary Laser Treatment, UGFS ( Color Doppler Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy).
EVLT – the tightening of bigger veins is usually carried out instead of the standard Stripping procedure.
We use Color Doppler, together with the examination by the surgeon to provide a diagnostic evaluation.
Before the treatment, pre-operative laboratory testing is required, as required by the physician.
Prior to the procedure, the patient should have a consultation with the physician, who will check the health condition examination results again using Color Doppler. What follows is the procedure performed under local anaesthesia using the tumescent technique. The laser beam is introduced into the pathologically changed veins. The heat which is released on the top of the laser beam (photothermal effect) causes a change within the vein and the vessel wall, thus sealing the vein.
Immediately after the treatment, the patient can walk. The patient needs to wear compression stockings for approximately 4 weeks following the procedure.
This is the most acceptable cosmetic procedure in the world for treating varicose veins which, unlike other methods, has the lowest relapse rate.
